"After have
my annual physical my doctor requested that I also have a mammogram. I was
able at the time to schedule it for the middle of August 2005 at Romeo Plank
Diagnostic Center. About a week later, they phoned and asked me to come
back for extra magnification because they wanted a better look at one area.
I had to wait another 11 days before I found out from my doctor’s
office that the results were still not 100% clear. They requested that I
get a Breast MRI. I was able to contact Michigan Resonance Imaging that
same day. I received additional information over the phone about my particular
type of MRI. The lady I spoke with told me that they could only schedule
at certain times of my monthly cycle and to phone back when I could confirm
that ‘”time period”. When I phoned back, she pulled the
information I had given her previously over the phone and scheduled me for
the first available date knowing that the results were important to my health.
The day of my MRI I was slightly nervous but the staff greeted me warmly,
explained the paperwork I had to complete and then took me to the exam room.
As they prepared me for my MRI, the technicians explained what they were
doing and what was going to happen. Any questions I had were efficiently
answered. At different times during the procedure, they inquired how I was
doing to make sure I was ok with the enclosed space. Within two business
days, the staff radiologist had interpreted the results and they notified
my regular doctor. Unfortunately for me, the results indicated the early
stages of breast cancer and I have since had a lumpectomy and will soon
begin the additional follow-up radiation and chemotherapy. I am grateful
for the efficient manner in which Michigan Resonance Imaging provided my
testing and the quick notification to my physician. While it was news that
I doubt anyone wants to find out, the important part is that with the additional
imaging, my doctor was then able to recommend I contact a breast surgeon
and get a biopsy."
